It must also include your search term/s for effective keyword optimization and be no more than 160 characters in length otherwise not all the description may be included.

Some say that Meta tag keywords are now useless, however they are still regarded as vital element of keyword optimization. Some search engines still use keywords when ranking their listings so it’s best to add them to your page. Make sure that the keywords you state within this section actually appear in your webpage. Otherwise you may be classed as a spammer and possibly banned from various search engines.
Keyword Optimization Of Your First 25 Words
It is essential that you display your niche keyword/s in the first 25 words of your website body content, preferably in bold. Search engines hold the first 25 words of your website in high regard so take advantage of it.
Keywords Within Bold Tags
Place your major website keywords in bold on your page. Search engines believe that by putting emphasis on these keywords they are important. Also place other important words in bold for proper keyword density. Remember to make sure you have the correct keyword density.
Keywords in ALT Tags
It is important to place your targeted keywords in the ALT tags of your images. The reason behind this is that search engines cannot read images. Therefore, by including this tag on your images, you are telling the search engine what the image is about. It is essential that you add this tag to every image on your website.
H1-H6 Headline Text
One of the most common SEO mistakes is not placing the desired keywords in H1- H6 HTML tags. The H1-H6 tags inform the search engine spiders that these words are important because they are mostly used for page titles or sections of your website. You will find that nearly websites ranked in the Top 10 listings will have used atleast one H1 tag as a bare minimum. Using H2-H6 is optional but still desirable. Remember to include additional words to make sure your keyword density is not affected.
Domain Name and URL Keywords
Keywords within your domain name and url can mean the difference between a number 1 ranking and a lower top 10 ranking. The best option would be to have your keywords in your domain name ie. Keyword Optimization http://www.free-seo-analaysis.com/keyword-optimization.php. The dashes in between is not essential and is based on personal preference. It looks neater than to words clumped together and the search engines can still read the words. It also eliminates the possiblity of being listed under unwanted search terms.
HTML Comments Including Keywords
Another great way to improve your search engine rankings is to include HTML comments in your code. This will provide you with an opportunity to once again state your keywords and their importance.
